Today we will learn about input and output devices.
Please review the goals and objectives before we start our lesson.
Goal: Students will learn the differences between input and output devices.
Objectives:
Students will be able to contrast the features of input and output devices.
Students will be able to distinguish between input and output devices using an interactive quiz.
Students will be able to label input and output devices when given a pictorial worksheet.
Yesterday, we learned more about hardware, and for homework you thought about where those components send information. Do they send the information to you, or send it into the computer? We have special names for those two kinds of hardware. Let's discuss in groups the hardware we thought about and what each piece does.
Input devices send information into the computer. Output devices send information from the computer to us. In our PowerPoint lesson today, we will learn how to classify the hardware we have learned so far.
We will do another labeling activity today. Instead of identifying the object, you will write whether it is an input or an output device.
When you complete your worksheet, we will take another quiz. Don't worry, it's not for a grade.
When you open the quiz, select External Hardware. If you answer the question correctly, you will be taken to the next question. If you answer incorrectly, you will be given a chance to try again.
If you came across a piece of hardware that you had never seen before, how would you tell if it was an input or an output device? Think about the characteristics of input and output devices we have talked about today, and come up with an answer. We will share them as a group.
What would you like to learn about tomorrow? Is anything still confusing you? Do you think you could describe hardware components to another person so they could understand too? We will discuss this as our reflection.
Tomorrow, we will review all of our lessons of the last few days. Tonight, you will need to draw, identify, and write about some of the components we have learned about this week.
